Category Post Notification for the Home Page?

Is there a way to have Radio's Home Page show list of postings to Categories, so I won't have to write an entry on the front page to inform readers that "an article about such and such has been added" to "x category" ?

Radio's FTP won't create new directories on the server

Radio still won't create directories via its FTP. Why not? I notice this whenever there's a new month, and Radio won't create a new directory for the archives. It's driving me batty!

Radio FTP failing to finish uploading

Now it seems Radio's upload to my weblog site is failing. After posting , I get a blank home page. WSFTP uploads the file just fine, when I go and copy it up from the backups/rendering folder (radio wrote the entry to the xml and html files just fine). What's up now? (Note: I had to do the upload via WSFTP on both posts today)

Before work, a little test to see if this posts correctly. Radio has been putting a big blank spot at the top of my content section on some posts over the past week.

If I have something to say today, I guess I'll post from my desk at work later on, during some break time.

More Radio wierdness

I noticed that my three posts to my Cluetrain section didn't create the directory for July under cluetrain on my server, so nothing went up. I corrected that.

Home Page post? This morning my home page posts with a big huge blank space at the top of the content area, pushing everything off the screen. What's going on now?

I still don't understand Radio

Home page still taking about 5 minutes and/or 3 attempts to post. Radio will upload my "Permalink" archive file immediately after it updates the calendars on the the months permalink pages. But then Radio stops uploading. Why won't it go on? The home page should be first, in any event. That's the page I want people to see, and where most "Category" only entries are announced and links provided. At the very least, Radio should not stop the upstream until the home page is updated with the post that I have tried to add to my weblog. It also shouldn't take 5 minutes. Some mornings, I don't have the time to insure that it's going up.

730am, and is Radio going to upload this? 1st try , NO. 7:32am. 7:34, still no update. 7:35, attempt 3, still NO. 7:37, finally uploads on 4th try.

Radio keeps having problems

Once again:

Can't evaluate expression because the name "server" has not been defined! What the heck? I've been getting this ever since I renewed (don't know if that's related or not). Clicking the GoTo button on the Error Info box takes me to system.verbs.builtins.radio.upstream.uploadChangedFiles. When I click debug, I get stopped on the following line:

case string.lower(adsprec^.server)

There I get a Dilaog opup dilaog box that looks like a Javascript Alert that says:

This script has no statements in its body. To debug "uploadCahngedFiles", add a statement below the script that calls it with the approporiate parameter list.

I have no idea what to do.

Radio Upstreaming Problems still happening every day

How long will it take this morning? As usual, I began trying top ost at 7:23 am (not usually that early, but it takes several tries and/or minutes to post).....7:31 now and still no front page replacement withthe new posting. (7:34, 11 minutes and 4 attempts...it posts) It does however, update a category home page (this one)

I'm still getting "Can't evaluate the expression because the name "server" hasn't been defined" in ma Error Info dilaog box, and pressing GoTo takes me into system.verbs.builtins.radio.upstream.uploadChangedFiles.

Lawrence at Userland asked me about my ftp settings, if they are set to passive or not. They are.

FTP permissions for my Radio upstreaming

Why is it that my WS_FTP program has permission ot create new directories in my FTP account, but Radio's FTP upstream doesn't seem to be able to create the same directories. I am always having to go and create a subdirectory for a new month of archives under my 2003 directory, then the upstreaming will happen, ut I have to keep doing this everytime I try to post an entry to a category to which I'm posting for the first time that month. It also happens with Stories. Is there a setting in FTP under Radio that I've got to change? I am using, of course, the same username and password that I use in WS_FTP.

My question is: How do I stop it from happening every day: the same notify message for the same link , every day?

Also, same ol' same ol' this morning. No posts are appearing, and 10 minutes ahve passed, but I suppose it's got more to do with post attempts than time. This is my third post. the 2003/05/25.html file has gone, and the archive page's Calendar updates have gone, but no index.html file yet. Maybe this time (11:30 am...first attempt: 11:18am)

At 7:56, I uploaded my fist post of the day. I've written a somewhat longer post since then, pressed the "Post to Weblog" button, and that post has yet to appear on the server as of 8:20. How long will this go on?

7:52. When submitting the edited version of this post, after entering the above complaint, I see the May pages being updated (for the Calendar changes) as indicated from my Event Log:

In search of an MT template correction

I'm not getting too many replies on my pleas for help in my Movable Type blog about the main index template. It seems IE6 has problems with the main content area, not wrapping the text. My Netscape 7.02 and IE5 browsers have no problem. I 've seen some MT users with content onthe left and links to the right, which behave fine in IE6. Can someone point me to a copy of the template I can use to do this? I think I saw it at AKMA's site, for one.

BTW, Radio continues to start VERY Slowly every day. New posts I attempt to make in the morning refuse to be upstreamed, until about the third attempt (I have to go to the post , edit it, and click "Post Changes" at least once more, if not 2 or 3 times more.

What gives? This is EVERY MORNING. Only on the first post. It works the rest of the day. Does the Radio root update cause this? Anybody else get this?

Remote Edit needs Refreshing

I just opened up Remote Edit after maybe months of not using it (it is a plugin for Radio that allows an external editor to edit templates in Radio). The file I got was an age-old template, with who knows what in it, and I have made numerous changes to my templates since I last used Remote Edit. Is there a way to "refresh" Remote Edit's temp folders where the editing takes place, so that it grabs the Templates presently in use by Radio? Stopping radio and replacing the remoteedit.root file with the original one did not work.

Now I get an error:

The folder "C:\Program Files\Radio UserLand\www\#homeTemplate.txt" wasn't found.

when I try to Edit the Home Page template.

I get : The folder "C:\Program Files\Radio UserLand\www\#template.txt" wasn't found when I try to edit the Page Template.
and The folder "C:\Program Files\Radio UserLand\www\#desktopWebsiteTemplate.txt" wasn't found.
when I try to edit the Desktop website template.

All of these files are in the specified locations, so what's the deal?

Now I'm gettong the error about

[Macro error: Can't find a sub-table named "C:\Program Files\Radio UserLand\www\".]

each time I do a "Delete" post I discovered this when I decided to, after a successful Compacting of the DataFiles (or so I thought), went to delete the several "test posts" I had done in attempting to get upstreaming happening again. After I compacted, it seems that upstreaming started again. Let's see what the damage of that might be.

Now, on every post to a category, I get this this error, a nd no posts show, on the index.html file when I browse to the home page of that category:

What is going on? hello? This will probably happen to my home page whenever and IF ever Radio decides to post a new index.html file.

Stories page not finding connection to a collection of old stories

The image of my local Stories home page that I just posted has just changed. The icon appeared, jsut a bit ago, but when Iwent to my still existing entries that still have no icon and re-edited and re-posted, still no go. They seem to be stuck in oblivion. I'm not sure what my next step should be.

Stories Index Page Still Not Working

My Local stories index page at http://127.0.0.1:5335/system/pages/stories. Notice the blank where a globe icon shouldbe in a story I just created. I have refreshed several times. What this means is that the public version of /stories/index.html does not links that point to the stories for those entries with no globe "Link" icon. It's never being generated.

HOME page not updating....it's been 40 minutes since I started trying. How long will it take today?

Well, that figures. Just after the above paragraph was "submitted", I saw the long awaited "index.html" show up on the status message bar. It is irritating , to say the least, that I can't get an entry up to the server quicker than that. Once it goes, however, it seems to work fine agin until the next morning. Could the nightly build of the xml backup files have something to do with this? What, I don't know. Anyway, all this stuff is SO distracting. I had some Cluetrain/Church related stuff to write, and the updating problem got me off track.
