The Call

To be a multicultural and economically diverse gathering of the people of God in Adams-Morgan. We seek to establish spiritual connections with the residents of the Jubilee Apartrnents, especially with the seniors at Sarah's Circle wbere we are nieeting, and in so far as possible with others in the neighborhood. Recently we have been emphasizing the practice and sharing of centering prayer.

Mission Groups

Bethany (1993)

- Transitional mission to homeless families in recovery from homelessness and addictions, with special emphasis on Twelve Step recovery and counseling for both parents and children. Services include job counseling, parenting classes, financial management counseling and leadership classes. Currently in search of an 8 to 10 unit building on the 14th St. corridor

E (EvangeUm) and P (Pastoring) (1977)

- Believing the gospel message to be essential to healing and wholeness, the group focuses on contemplative and centering prayer as a way of introducing the Good News to whoever will come to share with us. The group provides hospitality and special support to those who worship with Jubilee Church. (with Potter's House Church)

Good Shepherd (1985)

- undergirds and prays for Good Shepherd Ministries, Inc. Members serve on board of directors, participate in fundraising events and relate directly to the children as individual schedules allow.

Good Shepherd Ministries, Inc

serves at-risk children of low-income families living in Jubilee Housing buildings in Adams Morgan. With a special emphasis on education, it provides people, progran-s and diverse opportunities for building selfesteem through personal interaction and achievement in a variety of challenging activities. Current educational enrichment programs in the After-School Centers include the Homework Assistance program, Arts & Action, Spectrum, Flyers Jr. Tutoring; the Teen Learning Center offers intensive tutoring in the original Flyers program, Coniputer Lab, Ladies Night; Boy Scouts, Sports and Sumnier Camps and social and cultural events for all grades.

Jubilee Churcb is a member of EACH, Ecunienical Association for Change, addressing concerns and needs of children in the community JubBee Church has adopted a second grade class at

H.D. Cooke School. Volunteers read to the children weekly and help the teacher as needed.
