Flash Gradual Loader?

| | Comments (1)

I suspect that someone out there has done this: Create a template in which a Flash movie can be loaded that loads pieces of the entire presentation , as soon as enough has downloaded to allow continuous playback of the entire piece. For example, I have a swf that is now at about 1120kb. I want to speed up the loading of that swf. If that swf includes say, 15 separate image fade-in/fadeout sequences, along with audio playing on an audiotimeline throughout, I want to the movie to show a preloader in the basic template until the point at which the first movie is loaded, and the next movie will be loaded by the time the first movie finishes playing. This way the flash file loads quicker (having only to load the container, and then starts in on the first loaded movie when enough time remains in the length of that first loaded movie for the second to load, and on to the end of the file. Anythig like this out there anywhere?

64-bit Flash Player?

| | Comments (2)

NOw that I've installed 64-bit XP as a dula boot with my XP Pro, I notice that when I'm in 64-bit Windows, the Flash player won't install into the 64-bit IE. I've seen people say "load the 32-bit IE", but won't that overwrite the 64-bit version, which I want to keep?

Flash is going to have to have its own Category now (but not right now), because I'm doing so much of it lately (at OSG and also with a new project I joined). I think it is inevitable that it will come up that somebody can't (and won't use Flash). Even though it's widely supported and integrated now, I believe that I need to do it (provide alternate non-Flash pages" to conserve bandwidth for bandwidth challenged browsing persons).
