Qumana?

| | Comments (0)
Here is a blog editor I just ran across. It is called Qumana (qumana.com) the 3.0 Beta did not work with my MT, but the full release 2.0 , this one I'm using now, does. The major caveat is that I cannot find where the POST button is. That's a major oversight, I think. It also mucks with the fonts, which I don't like too much. But it does provide a handy easy way to add Tags, which I like. My MT install is slowing down tremendously. I need to find a solution to this. Six Apart also needs to provide some help other than the crazy rebuilds that I'm not sure what is going on as it does it (with the dynamic template stuff.....I tried something, and all the posts went missing (they were just reamed....but this process needs to be a bit less scary. The Wordpress import for Movable Type is not working, and nobody at Wordpress seems to be paying much attention to me or to 3 or 4 others who are asking with me how this is supposed to work. If someone does a Community Server import from MT, I'll be happy to try that one. That's a dotNet blog I've been playing with since its earlier versions in 03. I'd love for Wordpress to get it together with the imports (they seemed to work OK with 1.5)

Nick Bradbury shows how to add Movable Type to the Feed Demon News Reader 's Blog This Story Tool.....

My URL to add entries is:
http://theoblogical.org/movtyp/mt.cgi?__mode=view&_type=entry&blog_id=1

but putting your suggestion,

http://www.myblog.com/cgi-bin/mt.cgi?
is_bm=1&bm_show=&__mode=view&_type=entry
&title= etc etc
Where 'www.myblog.com/cgi-bin' is the URL of your MT installation doesn't work....I get an error:

I put in
http://www.theoblogical.org/mt.cgi?is_bm=1&bm_show=&__mode=view&_type=entry&blog_id=1&title=
etc etc

and get a 404 error whern I try it right-clicking on a story and selecting Movable Type under Blog This Story

What's the secret?

trackback test

| | Comments (1)

test link to my Wordpress Blog, doesn't get recorded by the Wordpress, or doesn't get displayed correctly......I'll check and see if it got into the database for wordpress......nope, no sign of it in the datbase either. MOvable type (sending the trackback) receives back the trackback URL when I posted this ....but then Wordpress seems to be unaware that it has been pinged.....what gives?

Can't upload

| | Comments (1)

Trying to upload a picture (using Upload File), I get the following two errors (one or the other)

Got an error: CGI open of tmpfile: Permission denied (MT Error)

The Page cannot be displayed (Browser error page, with the usual instructions IE gives me)

The directory chosen is the LocalSitePath, images/uploads, which has write permissions (this is on a Windows server, which has full permissions for that directory for IUSR....however, the IWAM user does not...but I do not know what the IWAM user is, and the file permissions panel my ISP gives me does not list that account in the permissions list, so I can't change it even if I wanted to)

Any ideas out there?

I noticed yesterday that when I follow a link to a "Category Page" such as one that says "See related posts in category1" , that the page at /archives/cat_categoryname.html does not have navigation to other posts in the category, and only shows the most recent post to that category. I need a list of other postings. How can I do this?

Can't upload files

My upload feature doesn't seem to work. When I try to upload a file from my hard drive into the site root, images. por anything beneath images, when I press the "upload" button I get an error 404 file not found. What might be wrong?

The Radio export I got from TechnoWeenie (that's really the name of the Blog) worked,  but I don't know what to do to get the Categories included,  since Radio created separate xml files for each category which included a list in the XML of which Radio post IDs belong to that category:

Sample:

<table name="For Sale">
 <date name="dateLastUpload" value="Fri, 25 Apr 2003 04:28:24 GMT"/>
 <string name="description" value="Stuff for Sale"/>
 <string name="displayName" value="For Sale"/>
 <string name="fileName" value="forSale"/>
 <boolean name="flNotifyWeblogsCom" value="true"/>
 <boolean name="flRenderHtml" value="true"/>
 <string name="htmlUrl" value="http://theoblogical.org/dlature/categories/forSale/"/>
 <string name="language" value="en-us"/>
 <string name="lastThemeApplied" value="discreetRadioBlogBlack"/>
 <string name="rssUrl" value="http://theoblogical.org/dlature/categories/forSale/rss.xml"/>
 <list name="storyList">
  <long value="1310"/>
  <long value="1313"/>
  <long value="1315"/>
  <long value="1311"/>
  <long value="1316"/>
  <long value="1317"/>
  <long value="1312"/>
  <long value="1320"/>
  <long value="1319"/>
  <long value="1314"/>
  <long value="1318"/>
  </list>
 <table name="theme">
  <string name="archiveLinkImgTag" value="&lt;%radio.macros.imageref (&quot;images/bryanBell/discreetBlogBlack/blackPermaLink.gif&quot;)%&gt;"/>
  <string name="enclosureImgTag" value="&lt;img src=&quot;http://www.scripting.com/images/sound.gif&quot; height=&quot;11&quot; width=&quot;10&quot; border=&quot;0&quot;&gt;"/>
  <string name="itemPermaLinkImgTag" value="&lt;%radio.macros.imageref (&quot;images/woodsItemLink.gif&quot;)%&gt;"/>
  <table name="navigator">
   <string name="itemFormat" value="&lt;%item%&gt;"/>
   <string name="separatorFormat" value="&amp;nbsp;|&amp;nbsp;"/>
   </table>
  <string name="sourceImgTag" value="&lt;img src=&quot;http://www.scripting.com/images/source.gif&quot; height=&quot;13&quot; width=&quot;22&quot; border=&quot;0&quot;&gt;"/>
  </table>
 </table>

Seems like there would be a way to apply the storyList values to the MT database that's in MySQL,  and change all the categories of those posts,  that is,  if MT hasn't assigned new numbers (which it probably did....)   more in a minute after I look into the specifics of this
