The Cluetrain Manifesto
These guys, seemingly far from the prototypical " relgious person" (and whatever that is, I don't think I 'd want to meet someone who actually embodies this), represent for me a set of "patron saints" for online community, regardless of whether they claim to be religious. Nevertheless, they are deeply spiritual about this topic. And why not? It moves them and energizes them. They are dynamic, funny guys, and they know the Internet. They "get it" (they like it when people say that). Their 95 theses circulated around here about a year ago, and somebody sent it to all the department managers. I don't know what became of that. I never heard the echoes, which is kinda scary. Maybe , most likely, we're what they would call "Clueless". Our name is withheld, for obvious reasons (I still need to work here). I also would like to continue to take a crack at being an evangelist ; a missionary in what seems like largely hostile territory. And this is a Christian organization. Sad , isn't it? It's not evil. Just clueless. We do not yet "get it". I will return to this refrain again and again as I blog theologically, because I think it's crucial, not just for businesses dealing in Christian resources, bu tfor Churches dealing with a culture that is communicating in new ways as people seek out new avenues to connect to one another. And so, even though I get very discouraged and cynical, my calling remains. Discover that markets are conversations. Community is conversations. The Community of Christ is a conversation around how we have conversed with God, and God in others and God in the world, and finding out how all these instances of the prescence of God are related, and finding out how we MUST listen; listen to them all.
It's not a nurdy thing
