The 'Field of Dreams' Roadtrip

I rewatched Field of Dreams again (for the nth time,  at least half a dozen) a couple weeks ago on a Thursday (I think it was May 29th).  I remember it becuase after it was over,  Janet told me that her parents had offered to pay for a Cold Fusion training class, and I felt encouraged by that;  that here was some support for "finding my way" to my dreams.  I'm still looking for the time and place most opportune for that.

I have thought about a scenario for several weeks now,  which started with the CBF plans for their 2003 General Assembly in Charlotte June 24-26.  As I read some of my favorite weblogs,  there seems to be a lot of "Conferences" happening for many of them,  mostly on social software type issues and technologies, and "Blogging the Events" such as these has become popular among the Webloggers.  I see it as a possible way to publicize the benefits of the Weblog to the leadership of denominations and groups such as the CBF.  These events are already a major source of "Communication" systems and publicity,  and the kind of "live reporting" that can be done with Blogs and Wi-Fi connections seems ideal for the technology and the envisionings of the future by leaders to come together and help a strategy begin to take shape.

The "Roadtrip" extends off of that idea.  One day after the close of the CBF event, the American Baptists are holding their yearly event in Richmond, Va.  Same thing applies there.  Then I could swing on up to Washington , D.C. and see who might be there to listen to my Web Church Site dreams for which Church of the Saviour has always a major "model"  I have in mind as a ponder what a Church Web could be.  When I consider such issues as "enabling and allowing VOICE" (ala "Cluetrain" theses) ,  the stories that emanate from COS communities have often provided for me an ideal source of content for a Web community around the day to day events of "being Church" in the COS community.

Ray's hearing the voice say "Go the Distance" which beckons him to hit the road to Boston and find Terrence Mann and then to move both of them to seek out "Moonlight Graham" in Minnesota;  I attach this to these "road trip" visions,  and wonder if I am really hearing a call in all of this.  I would have to find a way to handle all of this financially (or should I mkae this a "prerequisite"?)  Seems I have to for the sake of family;  Ray's wife Annie seems almost inexplicably encouraging of all this (maybe because she had the exact same dream about Boston....but before,  when the "If you build it" message came,  and Ray felt that it meant that he was supposed to build a baseball field, and plow up his corn to do so,  she told him "if you think you should do it,  you should do it."  She said this after he had explained the thing about his father and getting angry with his father's demand that he play and practice baseball, and then his desire NOT to be like his father ,  who "never did a spontaneous thing in his life".

All of this seems to be the perfect mythical material to justify a foolish risk,  on the basis of some imagined call or vision to do something that may just be wish fulfillment.  I'm not sure how much of this is in all of these things racing through my mind and troubling my spirit;  but  sometimes "lifting it" as I THINK I sense that there may be something more REAL about all of this and there's really something there,  even though it's not something I can "prove" (one NEVER can, it seems,  on these things.  That's what makes this such a scary, existentially-shaking thing it often is, this "call" thing.

Back on the itinerary;  Washington would also include visting Bob,  perhaps in Harper's Ferry,  perhaps exploring some Sojourner's stuff in which I might find a role.  We've been talking about the weblog stuff,  and I'd love to see the format find a home in the Sojourners community.

So how BIG of a sign will it take for me to go?  It seems "far out there" right now.  I fear that feeling desprarate may "contribute" bad decisions,  or cause me to "jump in" without a certain amount of attempts to see what "feasabilities" I might find  via sharing these thoughts with others who might be allies and supporters and such.
