Scripting News - Professional Blogs vs Labors of Love

The key statement in Dave's commentary on Meg's piece for me is the following:

"If they do it as a sideline, as the Macromedia bloggers do, a labor of love, somehow I trust that more than if maintaining a weblog is their job. "

I suppose that the degree to which this is true is the degree to which the weblogger is perceived to have "voice" (in the Cluetrain sense,  in other words,  isn't giving themselves away by whitewashing the product or service with hype).   The more open the weblog is with allowing criticisms or pointing out flaws or pitfalls in the product or service,  the more authenticity comes across.  With many religious publishers,  a variety of resources are sold through the one channel,  and therefore room exists for some good comparisons.  The effective "brokering" of resources for religious communities can surely do so with a display of passion and enthusiasm for enabling the readers to find appropriate material,  or good coverage of certain topics.

Companies Blogging for Business

Dave comments on his weblog on an article by Meg,  that raises for me some interesting questions for lots of businesses ,  particularly for that of "Religious Publishers".

Megnut: Blogging for Dollars. Interesting piece. I don't think she nails it though. I want to see weblogs from CEOs and Members of Parliament, people who are responsible, and aren't mouthpieces. I know they can't write, but in the future that will change. A hired blogger inside a company is always going to be subject to pressures. If they do it as a sideline, as the Macromedia bloggers do, a labor of love, somehow I trust that more than if maintaining a weblog is their job. [Scripting News]

The Pastor as News Aggregator

The Pastor Blog,  a concept that reminds me of what David Lochhead used to tell us:  how in the pre-mass media days,  the Church pastor was the predominant link between the people and the world...Read on in Pastor Blogs....

Another comment out of sync........I will paste the ones I found down in "My Radio Trials" into these here.....it's now safe to post safely to this one on this subject....I won't move things around again. I promise (not on porpose anyway) They ended up in this blog in "My Radio Days"

Rage Boy silence

Where's Christopher?  The guy who wriote the stuff that got me blogging has gone silent for the past couple weeks.  Maybe if someone in the know can clue me in......is this bad blogging manners,  to ask about an absent member of the community?  That's what I consider him in my context.....one of those "parent blogs" to my blog (I guess he'd be THE parent,  since his the one that got me lookin' and experimenting.)

Lawrence Lessig

Lessig,  who wrote the Future Of Ideas,  which was a good book that taught me quite a bit,  has a blog (Doc pointed it out).   One for the blogroll.
